GEETF Awards
We are now accepting nominations for our GEETF Awards. Please consider nominating a teacher, or group of educators, who are making a difference in the lives of children through their leadership, initiative, or collaboration on a project that involves students, the school and/or the broader community. It’s not difficult to make a nomination. It is good for all of us to celebrate the wonderful things going on in our schools!
Who to nominate…
- Someone who has spearheaded a project that has had a significant impact on your school or community
- Someone whose work has had an outstandingly beneficial effect on students or other teachers
- Someone who is working hard to promote unionism or social justice
- Someone who is raising the profile of educators and our profession

The intent of the GEETF Awards is to recognize innovative projects which improve/enhance the lives of children. Up to a total of 12 awards may be awarded each year in each of the following categories:
AWARDS CATEGORIES:
Dedicated to Our Profession and Students
- Arts Award
- Environmental Award
- Humanitarian Award
- Anti-Poverty Award
- Special Education Award
- Indigenous Education Award
- Equity / Anti-Racism Award
Dedicated to Unionism and Helping Teachers
- Health and Safety Activist Award
- Teacher Service First Five Years Award
- Member Service and Engagement Award
- Outstanding Labour and Political Activism Award
Each recipient (or group) will receive a commemorative scroll and a gift. All nominees will be invited to celebrate their nomination with two Complimentary dinner tickets to our annual Celebration Dinner.
Evaluation Criteria
- The project involves a critical mass of the school community (staff and students).
- The project involves members of the broader community.
- The project affects a significant change in awareness in participants within the school community.
- The project demonstrates a significant, demonstrable difference to past practice.
- The project affects a significant change in awareness within the broader community.
The project provides access to unique opportunities in the domains of music, visual arts, drama, literature and/or dance.
The project encourages students to assume responsibility for their impact on the environment and for educating others to assume that responsibility.
The project heightens awareness of and empathy for individuals/communities in need of humanitarian aid. The project encourages participants to assume a role which increases awareness of the issue(s) in the broader community.
The project heightens awareness of and empathy for individuals/communities who experience issues of poverty. The project encourages participants to assume a role which increases awareness of the issue(s) in the broader community.
